Message from Mr. Schoeffel

Greetings, weary returning oarfolk,

Seeing your Miami photos I could not help recalling my own days of spring break double and triple practices, sometimes in ice covered waters - ours were usually in Princeton or Cambridge so the climate left many of us with tendinitis. I vividly recall rebuilding my hands with freezing water, second skin, Neoporin and lots of air. I also remember that the prime focus was eating, sleeping, and surviving the next practice, in no particular order. One of my mates got frostbite on a six hour harbor row; I am not sure how his toe is today but he had a remarkable sense of humor when he initially discovered it.

You are well looked after and should be mighty proud to have endured. I look forward to seeing you out on the water this spring. From an old blade to you, in the words of one of my best coaches, here's to making every day this spring on the water a "GREAT DAY!"

Mr. Schoeffel
