Regatta Food Duties

Food Captain

One food captain will be assigned to each race. This person is responsible for determining how many rowers will be at the race and purchase food accordingly. The food captain is responsible for sending out or soliciting homemade food items such as salads, desserts, etc. The food captain will turn in receipt to treasurer and be reimbursed for all expenditures. They will make sure the trailer includes;

Clean utensils

Clean grill

Check supply of paper goods

Water/beverages

Breakfast: purchase one decaf and one regular coffee box from Dunkin Donuts; muffins/donuts or coffee cake; bagels/cream cheese (muffins and coffee cake can be homemade)

Boathouse: Captain is responsible for assigning food duty to a parent to bring food to boathouse for rowers in the am (water; fruit; granola bars; bagels, cream cheese) If food captain is going down to the river in the am, they can also opt to drop these items to the boathouse before proceeding to tent..

Lunch: The captain is responsible for purchasing lunch items (burgers; hot dogs; rolls; grilled chicken; chips; hummus, pita chips; vegetable dip; crackers/cheese. Salads (Caesar; tossed, fruit or pasta). The salads can also be homemade and parent may opt to enlist additional parents to donate salads or desserts. Please keep in mind that any parent who donates food may provide receipt to treasurer for reimbursement. These items can be purchased the day before and put in the trailer that night or in the morning before the trailer is taken to the river. All burgers and hotdogs should be bought frozen and stored in a cooler on ice. Burgers and hotdogs can be purchased from Costco.

Midday Lunch Duty

The parent responsible for midday lunch will purchase large tray of hoagies and bring to river by 11am. Parent should touch base with Food captain to determine how many rowers will be racing in the regatta and if rowers will participate in more than one race. Receipts will be submitted to treasurer for reimbursement. When ordering the hoagies, please ask vendor to pre-slice small individual portions and keep filling (onion, pickles, mayo, peppers) separate so sandwiches are not soggy. Hoagies can be ordered from Wawa; A Cut Above, Wegman’s or Subway

Suggested Food Items

All Food must be placed in disposable containers

Appetizers: Vegetables with dip, cheese and crackers, hummus and pita, chips and dip

Salads: Pasta salad, bean salad, tossed salad, Caesar salad, vegetable salad, or fruit salad (very popular with rowers)

Entrees: Grilled chicken, tomato pie, grilled sausage, hamburgers, hot dogs. NOTE: If providing chicken, please pre-cook.

Snacks/Desserts: Pre-cut fresh fruit on skewers, soft pretzels, brownies, cookies, cupcakes
