Crew Bus Information and more

This Monday we will be going to the river for the first day of practice. Unfortunately, not all of the construction at Shipley has been completed, so our bus will be picking up everyone in front of the middle school circle on Yarrow Street. It will also drop everyone off there as well. Keep in mind that during dismissal time, that area is a complete zoo, so try to be patient. For parents that are providing snacks for practice, I have a couple of ideas to help you avoid the mayhem as long as we are departing from Yarrow Street. One idea would be to get to the upper school before dismissal time and drop the snacks off at the front desk. The captains could then be responsible for picking the food up from the front desk and loading them onto the bus. Another idea would be to park in the main parking lot and wait for the dismissal time. Kids could then unload the snacks from your car and carry them to the bus if you didn't feel Ike carrying everything. Bonnie will be chaperoning the bus on almost every day, so you can always contact her and have her help you coordinate your efforts. Thanks for your patience with this.

As some of you may know, Shipley graduate Sarah Megan Thomas is just finishing the making of a major motion picture called "Backwards" about a high school rower with Olympic aspirations (I'm overly simplifying it). The film has scenes in it that were shot at Shipley and a lot that were shot down at the river. You can check out the movie trailer here. Although it is on Facebook, you do not need an account to view it. Scroll down to the second posting on the page and you will see the video. Some of you with a sharp eye will recognize some Shipley Crew equipment in there as well.

The other night I sent a message to the Blog through my iPhone, and it completely garbled the message. This concerns me because I often have to post from my iPhone when I am not around a computer. I'm hoping it was just a random fluke, but I need to test it again to be sure. After I send this message out through my iPad, I'm going to send a test message through my phone again, so don't be alarmed if you get another garbled message. Hopefully you will not. Thanks for you patience with this as well.
