There seems to be some confusion as to why we charge crew fees, so I wanted to take a second to explain what the crew fees go toward. The major expenses are boathouse rental, the bus to and from the river, gas for the motor boats and truck, and race entry fees. On top of that there are miscellaneous expenses that we incur each season such as tool replacement, boat repairs, etc.
The school contributes a generous amount to the operation of the crew program, but unfortunately it is not enough to cover all of our costs.
I apologize for not getting the Fees Form out to you at the beginning of the season. I incorrectly assumed that all returning rowers and their families knew that we charged fees each season. Should you need to delay payment for a few weeks, just let me know. If I can answer any further question about the operation of the program, please contact me directly. Anyone else at the school will most likely direct you to me anyway.
