Learn To Row

For those of you who don't know, our Learn To Row day is an opportunity for non-rowing Shipley kids to experience crew at the river.  We get them out in boats with varsity rowers to expose them to the sport, in the hopes that they will decide to row in the spring.

Our Learn To Row day will be this Saturday, November 9th.  A bus will leave from Shipley at noon, and should return around 3:45 pm or so.  We will need a chaperone if anyone would be wiling to step up.  We will also need a few parents to organize a small food effort- Wawa hoagies, chips, soda, etc.  I can probably get you reimbursed for the cost from Mark Duncan.

All varsity fall rowers are expected to be in attendance to row in the boats with the novices unless they have legitimate excuses.  Remember, this is an important part of recruiting, so this serves your purposes as well.

To the parents-  I would ask that you pick your brains and think if you know any parents of 9th graders that you think would be good rowers, and plant a bug in their ear to have their kid attend this Saturday.

Thanks!
