Dear Parents of Shipley Rowers,
The PSRA (Philadelphia Scholastic Rowing
Association) is the group that organizes the Manny-Flick races, as well as the
City Champs regatta. Shipley is
fortunate to be one of the permanent member schools. This position not only gives us voting rights
for issues of the PSRA but also provides for our key spot on the riverbank and
our annual allotment of parking passes.
In order to maintain our permanent PSRA status, we
are asked to co-host at least one event each year. With our truncated season this spring, we
jumped on the opportunity to volunteer to "work the docks" for the
final Flick of the season, Flick #5 (April
13th).
We are looking for 6-8 parent volunteers to help
throughout the day. Ideally, 3-4 parents
of daughters in the AM and boys in the afternoon (to align with the rowing
schedules). Working the docks (these are
the docks by St.Joe) provides for an action-packed shift. We will be helping to control the traffic
flow of boats too and from the ramps or helping to recover boats coming back to
the dock...no experience necessary.
Please respond to this e-mail with a preferred time,
if you would like to help. Let me know
if you have any question.
Regards,
Matt
