Parent Information

This upcoming weekend

Hi All,

This weekend is going to be a big regatta weekend.  We have 2 races this weekend.  On Saturday, we are racing in the Mid Atlantic Jr. Regional Regatta in Princeton at Mercer lake.  (http://www.rowpnra.org/ma_junior_regional.cfm).  All rowers are attending this race with the exception of the boats that have scratched due to the prom. :) This race requires that the trailer and tent arrive at the course on Friday to set up.  No cars will be able to drive to the tent area on Saturday until the end of the race day to tear down.  Here's the tricky part. Upperclassmen and their parents who will be attending pre-prom at Shipley later that day, will be leaving the race early.  Therefore, we are truly relying on those parents who's kids are NOT attending the prom, to take the reins for this race.  I will send out an excel sheet later for folks to sign up to volunteer. I will be there in the morning but will need to leave early as Zoë is attending the prom.  Please...if you haven't volunteered yet this year, we really need you to help out as there is another race on Sunday!
Venue info:  Team Tents, Team Food Trailers & Parents Dropping off Food Tent Supplies
  1. All teams must pre-register their team tent and apply for an assigned tent space. Event tent permits will be available online by mid February. Each team will be assigned a 10x20 space for their team/food tent in the spectator area.
  2. Spaces will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. Shoreline spots go fast, so register early.
  3. Parents will be able to drive their cars down to the team food trailer parking area on Friday. However, the finish area will be closed to cars.  Absolutely no vehicles will be permitted in the team food trailer parking area on Saturday until after the completion of racing.
  4. PNRA staff will assist parents dropping off food on Saturday with golf carts. However, parents are encouraged to bring wagons and hand trucks in order to avoid waiting in line for a golf cart.
  5. Aggressive food tent parents will lead to the team’s exclusion from the regatta without refund. This will be strictly enforced!

On Sunday, we have the Doc White regatta which is for novice rowers only.  It is being held on the Schuylkill...same place as usual.  Because this is novice only, I will need the novice parents (not that you are novice parents, but you know what I mean :-)) to step up again as there will be very limited help from the varsity parents as their kids aren't rowing. I won't know the number of rowers until the coaches post this information on Wednesday.  I will assist with this race but need to rely on you for a lot of help.  It's a ton of work for me to do both races and stock the trailer with stuff we need for both.

As I mentioned, I'll be sending out a sign up sheet for both races and totally encourage <beg> you to help.

Valerie
